I wish I featured in more of my family pictures
I'm just like you, I hate pictures of myself. When anyone else held the camera, I would turn my head or make an awkward face. One of my reasons for picking up a camera and learning how to use it was so I didn't have to be in the pictures, but as my children and I have aged, I find I wish there were more visual records of us together. When I sit around the kitchen table with my 19 and 21 year old, with our box of family memories, I'm so very glad for the ones I do feature in. Our time is short, let's make sure there is a record of our presence.

The pictures we treasure, the ones we just cannot get enough of, the ones our children keep pulling out of shoeboxes year after year. The ones we laugh and cry over. Those are the pictures that really matter. And we need to make sure we have them, that we print them and most important of all, that we are in them. Not behind the camera, not hiding from the camera, but right there in our own family story.
I do have some of those studio portraits. My daughter in a velvet dress, my son in a check shirt. They are well lit and airbrushed to perfection. They hang on the wall and we walk past them daily. There is a place for them. But they do not make my heart sing and they do not tell our story.
Documentary family photography is magical. It's not about putting on your Sunday best, it is about laughter and love. About ordinary, everyday precious moments. It's about this time in your life right now, because this time will pass so fast and it deserves to be preserved.

Perhaps baking biscuits at home or a trip to the park, I can even meet you at your favourite beach and dogs are always welcome. 4 hours. The most popular session length. Your everyday family story captured. A mini day in the life, documenting your wonderful, ordinary moments. Bake cakes, read books, have a lego competition. 8-10 hours. A unique experience capturing a day in the life of your family, from breakfast to bedtime and all the glorious moments in between. Imagine looking at these images in the years to come, remembering exactly how it was, right then. A beautiful, magical documentary shoot like no other. A short magical film. Imagine if you could freeze time for a few minutes. The way his eyes gazed at you while nursing, the way her tiny hand felt inside yours. The sparkle in their eyes. The twirling, jumping, thumb sucking and the tickles. A keepsake family film that you will watch together over and over in the years to come. Especially wonderful as a newborn photography session.
The film can be booked alone or in addition to photography.
Family photography session fees cover my time and digital downloads according to the session selected above. Following your session you will receive a link to your fully edited, viewing gallery. Printed products and further digital images are available to purchase once you have viewed your gallery.

We will have an initial consultation call to get to know each other a little and I can find out about the things you might like me to capture. Session fees are payable in advance of our session date and then a few weeks later I will get in touch to share your gallery of all your best bits from which you can choose your favourite moments to purchase. You can select from a range of digital files and beautiful heirloom albums and fine art prints.
