  • Firstly, it’s perfectly acceptable to still be eating Christmas cake in mid January, right? . Secondly, where do you stand on icing? Yay or nay? Do you suffer it to get to the cake? Do you eat it first and suffer the cake? Do you eat only the marzipan layer or vice versa? . As a child I ate the icing and left the cake but now I mostly suffer the icing to get to the cake. But I’m all over the marzipan. I’d be very happy with marzipan and no icing at all. But don’t ever offer me a marzipan fruit.   • Today is my first day back in the studio and I’m struck by how long it is since I had quite so much time off! Two whole weeks and that second week made all the difference. . I normally have just one week off at a time, believing somehow that it’s better have more one week holidays rather than less two week breaks. . I’m not so sure now.   • In truth this year has often felt hard. There have been many changes and the reality of juggling an existing business whilst trying to begin a new one has been exhausting. . Teamed with family changes and the ups and downs of life it was often a a year that felt like I’d be glad to see the back of. . At times there were tears and it felt like so much new ground was too hard to climb. . But yet - as I stood by the water’s edge on the shortest day of the year and paused for breath - I felt aware of the gentle shift of time and I was reminded of how very much I truly have. Both behind and in front of me.
